Hand-drawn ink orthographic projection on glassine paper of the
aircraft carrier Midway, inscribed in German with detailed technical
specifications, signed and dated “18.11.1948”. For a comprehensive history of
the aircraft carrier Midway, see: https://www.midwaysailor.com/midway/history.html.
This plan was acquired alongside a collection of German rocket plans
drawn by the engineer-draughtsman Heinz Hoelzel at the end of WWII. While I do
not believe this particular drawing was made by Hoelzel himself, it was
evidently created by a colleague or associate involved in his circle at that
time.
Dimensions:
• Sheet: 22.9 x 42 cm
Condition:
The glassine sheet has mellowed to a pale honey colour over time. There is a
line of offset ink notations shining through from the back along the lower edge
at left. Additionally, there is some brown staining on the lower right. Aside
from these issues, the sheet remains in fair to good condition, with no tears,
holes, folds, losses, or abrasions.
Price & Shipping:
AU$209 (approximately US$146.06 / €139.35 / £105.82), including worldwide
express shipping. Please note that import duties and taxes are the buyer’s
responsibility.
