Jost Amman’s woodcut, “Jousting Tournament”, c.1572

“Jousting Tournament” (title extracted from the preceding Latin text: (transl.) “Romulus, disguising his infirmity of mind, prepares solemn games for Neptune's knights: ...”; “Now the whole multitude of the Sabines came with their children and their wives. they were invited hospitably through the houses, where the walls were situated; and when they had seen a great number of people under cover, they were surprised …”), c.1572, woodcut illustration published in Frankfurt am Main by Sigmund Feyerabend (aka Sigismund Feyrabend; Sigmund Feierabend) (1528-1590) to Livy’s (aka Titus Livius) (59 BC–AD 17), “Titi Livii Patavini Romanæ historiæ principis libri omnes qvotqvot ad nostram ætatem peruenerunt …”, published in 1572 on page 7. offers an online view of this woodcut employed as an illustration in Sigmund Feyerabend publication (1572) on page 7 with the relevant text:

Woodcut on fine laid paper with letterpress text and a partial woodcut verso (obscured by backing sheet), trimmed with a thread margin around the image borderline and laid on a support sheet providing wide margins.

Size: (sheet) 10.5 x 14.9 cm.

Inscribed in plate with the artist’s initials on entrance gates at lower centre: “I” [J]; “A”.

Condition: a strong and well-printed early impression showing minimal signs of wear to the printing plate, trimmed around the image borderline and laid onto a support of archival (millennium quality) washi paper providing larger margins.

I am selling this remarkable woodcut showing an unusual bird’s-eye view of a jousting tournament, for AU$268 (currently US$179.13/EUR162.08/GBP142.62 at the time of posting this listing) including Express Mail postage and handling to anywhere in the world, but not (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries.
