Jean Charles Cazin (1841–1901)
“En Hollande” (published title), c.1900, a printer’s proof before lettering
for publication in the art periodical, “Revue de l’Art ancient et moderne” in
1901. Note that Leonce Benedite (Conservator of the Musée National of
Luxembourg) also showcased this etching in 1902 in the article “Jean-Charles
Cazin” that I understand was extracted from “Revue de l’Art ancient et moderne”
(see https://archive.org/details/jeancharlescazin00bene/page/n9/mode/2up).
Etching printed in brown ink with plate tone on heavy buff-coloured washi
paper with wide margins.
Size: (sheet) 47.6 x 35.8 cm; ([soft] plate) 26.5 x 18.9 cm; (image
borderline) 23 x 16 cm.
Inscribed in plate with the artist’s initials: (lower left corner) “J. C.
C.”

Condition: a strong and well printed impression with generously wide
margins. Beyond a mark in the margin at left, the sheet is in an
excellent condition with no tears, holes, folds or significant stains.
