Scene” (aka “Landscape with figures letting their cattle drink at a well”), 1755,
possibly from the set of 296 plates executed between 1755 and 1778, “Recueil de
griffonnis, de vues, paysages, fragments antiques et sujets historiques” (see https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1869-0410-2376; https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1997-0928-351) after the design by the inventor of
the aquatint, Jean Baptiste Le Prince (1734–1781).
Etching
on fine laid paper, trimmed with a thread margin around the image borderline with
loss of the text lines and backed with a support sheet providing wide margins.

Condition:
a well-printed impression trimmed around the image borderline with loss of the production
details and laid upon a sheet of archival (millennium-quality) washi paper,
providing wide margins. The sheet is in a good condition, with no tears, holes,
folds, abrasions, or significant stains.
