Technical Details & Condition:

Etching and drypoint with plate tone on fine pale blue laid paper, pencil-signed and dated by the artist and signed in plate with the artist’s monogram at lower right.

The impression is richly inked and flawlessly printed. Apart from a closed tear in the upper margin, the sheet is in excellent condition, free from no holes, folds, abrasions, stains, or handling marks.

The use of light highlighting the figure's left side combined with the man's demeaned expression emphasize his age. The subject's medieval dress and exaggerated age draw from the tradition of portraiture, bringing to mind the caricatures and portrait studies of past Renaissance greats.
