Giuseppe
De Nittis (1846–1884)
“Jeune Femme Vue de Dos” (Young Woman Seen from Behind) (aka “Donna
con Ventaglio” [Woman with Fan]), 1875–76, published in Paris in the art periodical
“Gazette des Beaux Arts” (1st May 1885), between pages 438 and 439.
In
the description of this print offered by the British Museum, the Curator provides
the following interesting insight: “… De Nittis used a brush to spread an ink
wash on the plate in order to achieve an evanescent effect” (https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_2003-0531-7).
