“Distant Herdsmen at a Stream” (descriptive title only), c1650, possibly published by Pierre Mariette I (c1603–1657) with royal privilege in Paris (based on other circular prints by the Perelle family).

Etching on laid paper trimmed with a narrow margin around the image borderline and backed with a support sheet.

Size: (sheet) dia.19 cm; (image borderline) dia. 18.5 cm.

Condition: a richly inked and well-printed impression trimmed with a narrow margin around the image borderline and laid upon a sheet of millennium quality washi paper providing wide margins. There is a restored tear and an ink stain on the left but these issues are not noticeable.

“Landscape with Two Men in a Clearing” (aka “Landschap met twee mannen op open plek op voorgrond” [Rijksmuseum title]), c1645 (Rijksmuseum’s date: 1613–1657), plate 21 from an early/later unidentified numbered series, changed to plate 4 when the plate was published by Pierre Mariette I (c1603–1657) with royal privilege in Paris (see http://hdl.handle.net/10934/RM0001.COLLECT.162144).

“Tondo Landscape with Classical Ruins” (descriptive title only), c1660, plate IV (4)—presumably from a numbered series of around ten etchings, as was the practice of the Perelle family. This very beautiful impression was acquired from the estate of the well-known NYC art dealer, Alexander Raydon.
