Paul Huet (aka Paul Hüet) (1803–1869)

“Bois de la Haye” [Woods near The Hague], 1867, after a painting (1864–65) of the same title by the artist, printed by Alfred Salmon (fl.1863–94) and published in Paris in the art periodical, “Gazette des Beaux-Arts”, 1st October 1867, between pages 338 and 339.

Etching on buff coloured chine collé on wove paper, trimmed within the platemark on the top and sides with wide margins around the image borderline.

Size: (sheet) 16.9 x 21.6cm; (chine collé/image borderline) 10.2 x 14.7cm.

State v (of v) published state.

Inscribed below the borderline: (left) “PAUL HUET PINX. ET SCULP. / Gazette des Beaux-Arts”; (centre) “BOIS DE LA HAYE.”; (right) “Imp. A. Salmon, Paris.”

Condition: a richly inked and near faultless impression in a pristine condition with no tears, holes, folds, abrasions, stains or signs of handling.
