Alfred-Alexandre Delauney’s huge etching, “Birds and a Cascade Waterfall”, 1890

Alfred-Alexandre Delauney (1830–1895)

“Birds and a Cascade Waterfall” (descriptive title only), 1890 (as dated on plate), pencil signed proof impression (scratch inscribed before formal lettering for publication?) with remarque image of a small bird below the image borderline at right.

Etching with remarque, pencil signed, trimmed along the image borderline on the sides and backed with a support sheet.
Size: (trimmed sheet) 59 x 34.4 cm; (image borderline) 56 x 34.4 cm.
Inscribed on plate below the image borderline: (left) “Delauney 90”.
Inscribed in pencil below the image borderline: (right) “Delauney”.

Condition: richly inked and well-printed, pencil signed impression trimmed along the image borderline at the sides and within the plate mark at the top and bottom edges and laid upon a conservator’s support sheet. There are pale dots stains in the margin below the image borderline.

I am selling this large, rare and sparklingly luminous etching revealing the artist’s fascination with the effects of strong light and his romantic leaning towards natural scenery, for [deleted] including postage and handling to anywhere in the world (but not, of course, any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries).

If you are interested in purchasing this amazing etching that my eyes see as a rich tapestry of “woven” lines, please contact me (oz_jim@printsandprinciples.com) and I will send you a PayPal invoice to make the payment easy.
