Marino Marini’s etching, “Two Pomonas”, 1956

Marino Marini (1901–1980)

“Two Pomonas” (aka “Zwei Pomonas”; “Due Pomone”], 1956, from the edition of 65 pencil-signed impressions. Note that I understand that this etching was later published in 1971 as plate X in an edition of 75 unsigned impressions in the album, “Tout près de Marino” (Everything Near to Marino), printed by Lacourière et Frélaut copperplate engraving works in Paris (see https://www.goldmarkart.com/art-for-sale/due-pomone).

Etching with pale plate tone on thick wove paper with wide margins, pencil-signed at lower right and inscribed with the edition number, 5/65, at lower left.

Size: (sheet) 56.5 x 38.1 cm; (plate) 26.1 x 18.7 cm

Klepac 3; Hentzen 3 (Lou Klepac 1980, “Marino Marini: Etching and Lithographs”, Perth, The Art Gallery of Western Australia, cat. no. 3, p. 34; Alfred Hentzen 1976, “Marino Marini: L’opera grafica complete 1914–1975”, Milan, Graphis Arte, cat. no. 3).

Condition: near faultless impression pencil-signed and numbered with generously wide margins in near pristine condition with no tears, holes, folds, abrasions, losses, stains, foxing or signs of handling.

I am selling this superb impression of (arguably) one of Marini’s finest etchings in near pristine condition for a total cost of AU$1277 (currently US$931.78/EUR783.44/GBP706.66 at the time of this listing) including Express Mail (EMS) postage and handling to anywhere in the world, but not (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries.

Note that I have been unable to find other copies of this print from the same edition of 65 pencil-signed and numbered impressions apart from one offered by the accredited dealer/appraiser, APR57: https://www.apr57.com/collections/etchings-lithographs/products/marino-marini-due-pomone-1956-limited-edition-11-75-signed-etching-40k-value.
