Charles
Daubigny (aka
Charles François Daubigny) (1817–1878)
“Le Printemps” (aka “Springtime”), 1857, proof before
lettering with title and publication details, possibly printed by Auguste
Delâtre (1822–1907). This etching is translation into line of the artist’s
painting shown at the Salon of 1857 and entered in the collection of the Louvre.
From the description of the various states of this print offered by Melot (1978),
I believe that this impression in an intermediary state between states ii and
iii before the addition of details for print’s publication in “L’Artiste”,
volume 2 (September 6, 1857).

on cream chine collé on heavy wove paper with wide margins

Condition:
a strong and well-printed (near faultless) impression with generously wide
margins in a near pristine condition with no tears, holes, folds, losses,
abrasions or stains.

the leading figures of the Barbizon School, for AU$319 (equivalent to
