Kolbe the elder (1759–1835)
“La Recolte des Pommes” (aka “The Apple Harvest”; “Landschap
met Nimfen die Appels P Plukken”; “Landscape with Nymphs Picking Apples”), 1811,
after a gouache painting by Salomon Gessner (1730–1788)—interestingly,
Gessner’s painting is inscribed in the plate as being the artist’s last
painting—published in Zurich in 1811 in the volume of 25 etchings (plus
frontispiece) in “Collection des tableaux en gouache et des dessins de Salomon
Gessner. Gravés à l'eau forte par Guil. Kolbe” (see https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1994-1106-1-1
[BM inv. 1994,1106.1.1]).

Condition: a richly
inked and well-printed (near faultless) impression with generously wide margins
as published. Beyond several surface marks and small tears in the margins, the
sheet is in a very good condition with no holes, folds or significant stains.

this large and exceptionally fine romantic etching depicting an Arcadian scene
of figures gathering apples in a lush forest, with a tranquil stream in the
foreground and a flock of sheep resting in the distance, for AU$335 (equivalent
to approximately US$215.95, EUR 191.05, or GBP 162.77 at the time of listing)
and includes Express Mail Service (EMS) postage and handling to any worldwide
destination. Please note that any import duties or taxes, if any, levied by the
destination country are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in
