“L’Enfant et la Mort” (aka “Death and the Child”), 1905, plate 11 from the suite of 15 plates, “Danse Macabre” (see http://ampaen.mumaro.free.fr/suite2.htm#L'enfant), printed by A & M Vernant  (fl. early 1900s) and published in Paris by George Petit (1856–1920 [business continued until 1933]) as an original etching bound between pages 20 and 21 in the art periodical, “Revue de l’Art Ancient et Moderne”, 1^st January, 1925 (see https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k4325523/f23.double).

Etching (with drypoint?) printed in a warm black ink on heavy cream laid paper (with partial watermark: “[…]hes” [possibly “Arches”]).

Size: (sheet) 29.9 x 21.2 cm; (platemark) 24.9 X 16.9 cm; (image borderline) 24.2 x 16.3 cm.

Condition: a richly inked and well-printed (near faultless) impression in an excellent condition with no tears, holes, folds, abrasions or significant stains.

The British Museum offers the following description of this print from an earlier state: “Landscape of the sea with a rock beyond at left and Mont Saint-Michel in the far distance; the beach in the left foreground with sticks in the sand; a flock of birds in flight at left towards Mont Saint-Michel; dramatic clouds in the sky; intended for the unpublished album 'La Mer'. Etching” (https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1926-0710-113).

Condition: a strong impression with generously wide margins in a near pristine condition with no tears, holes, folds or significant stains.

Charles Louis Kratke (aka Charles-Louis Krätke) (1848– 1921)

“Le Bain de Diane” (as titled on plate), late 1800s (?), after the painting, “The Bath of Diana”, 1855, in the collection of the Dallas Museum of Art—note that there is also a larger version of this painting, “The Company of Diana, Impression of Morning”, 1855, in the collection of the Musée des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux—by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot (1796-1875), published and printed by Georges Petit in Paris and also published by Charles F Haseltine in Philadelphia.

Etching on cream coloured chine collé (China) on heavy wove paper with wide margins (as published).
